One of the main reasons we control pest birds is their related guano that can quickly buildup and become a hazard to persons either via a slip-trip-fall incident or via breathing in bacterial and viral spores found on dry droppings. Bird waste is also corrosive and can be a significant factor in damage to building facades and a problem for blocked gutters and drains that quickly cause overflowing. Bird waste should be removed and disposed of safely.
Specific pest birds, mainly pigeons, are known to carry a wide range of diseases and viruses that can be harmful to human health; when dealing with guano users, they should take steps to prevent or minimise the risk of contamination themselves and others including waste contractors.
The Birdgo sanitiser and cleaning spray, which is available in a ready-to-use spray or concentrate, is a highly recommended and popular option for users to spray waste associated with birds. Users should spray debris before and during removal of bird waste layers; the spray can also be used for tools after a successful cleanup. Treated waste with a biocide will also re-classify bird waste from hazardous to general.
We recommend users wear hand and face protection for handling waste and birds. If working in confined locations, users should wear suitable disposable clothing to minimise contact.
