Bird waste carries a wide range of bacteria and viruses and installers. Persons working within proximity of waste must understand the risk that may occur and take steps to resolve and minimise contact to infected waste. There has been several well documentated cases of injury death from under-estimating the risks relating to pigen waste, especially over long periods.
Commonly recognised and dangerous diseases associated with bird waste include Histoplasmosis, Psittacosis & Cryptococcosis. Installers should wear protective equipment to prevent harm and when possible treated with an appropriate biocide to destroy the bacteria and prevent contamination within the clearance stage of bird control.
Our Birdgo sanitiser and cleaner product is a biocide specifically designed for the treatment of bird waste. Available in a ready to use spray or as a concentrate for when treating bulk waste and is a highly recommended product for users and installers within all aspects of bird control. Our product is also recommended to spray waste before sending to a contractor as this will re-register waste from hazardous to non-hazardous.
We also recommend that PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is worn before and during any works that are related to bird waste or when working within an area that has not been cleaned; a suitable FFP3 mask should be used. If within enclosed environments users should take steps to prevent clothing from being contaiminated and disposable suites should be used.
