Bird wire posts raise wire above ledges at specific heights and lengths depending on the bird species being controlled. Pigeon systems are different from gull systems, the latter of which can quickly damage an installation if not installed correctly.
Posts can either be installed into masonry surfaces using a 25mm nylon anchor rivet or a surface pad for installation on other surfaces. Surface pads can either be screwed or glued with an appropriate adhesive.
For pigeons, posts should be spaced at 1.5m intervals. The front row should be 90mm from the floor so users should use 115mm bird posts with 25mm anchor rivets for masonry or 90mm posts if using surface pads. The second row should be at the height of 130mm, which would either be 150mm posts anchor rivets or 130mm is using a surface pad. The spacing between the rows should be no more than 60mm.
For gulls, posts should be spaced at 3m intervals. The front row should be 150mm from the floor so users should use 180mm bird posts with 25mm anchor rivets for masonry or 150mm posts if using surface pads. The second row should be at the height of 180mm, which would either be 200mm posts with grey wall plugs or 180mm is using a surface pad. The spacing between the rows should be no more than 100mm.
Split pins used with anchor rivets are a recommended anchor to be used at the ends of the post system or areas where the pull is at its greatest, i.e. corners and longer lengths.
